About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company and to shape who we are and how we are portrayed amongst our shoppers. We create a huge amount in-house, across a wide variety of creative platforms that span across packaging, print, digital, events, in-store marketing and press. It’s possible your role will also involve illustration and writing copy, depending on your skills and experience. You’ll be responsible for all of the natural foods creative workstreams, some of which originate inhouse and others will be in partnership with either a packaging or comms external agency. A high level of work will be coming into this team from UK and global teams and it will be your strength in ability to prioritise, organise as well as get the very best from the team, which will ultimately set you apart from others and set you up for success.

This is the senior role in our creative team with 4 direct reports. You will report into the Marketing Director of Natural Foods as well as working closely with each of the brand teams.

Profile

About you

We’re looking for an exemplary Head of Design, to lead our creative and packaging team of 11 to execute with excellence across all touchpoints. This role will be challenging in terms of workload and will require the individual to be ruthless on prioritisation to make sure that we are working on the initiatives that will make a difference to our business. Working on a plethora of creative projects from assets for digital, to packaging, to instore and online shopper activation, the list goes on…

This role is also about leading, inspiring and shaping the existing creative team, which is packed full of creative strategy, design and flair, but currently a mix of three creative teams that will come together as one servicing the entire natural foods portfolio. A mix of skills will need to be identified and managed to get the jobs done, but also leveraged to develop and upskill the junior members of the team. This role is pivotal within the marketing leadership team, supporting the brand teams on their ambitions but also nurturing the creative team to feel fulfilled and invested in.

Creative teams will always have an endless list but it’s vital that this team member can control the flow from both a UK and global perspective with regards to workstreams and deliverables.

Key attributes consist of:

  • 10+ years of experience working in-house or agency side, developing impactful and meaningful creative assets that stand the test of time.
  • 5-7 years of managing a sizeable team, whilst also nurturing those within it to be a high performing team.
  • Clarity, direction and prioritisation.
  • The ability to achieve success through others.
  • The ability to empower others to deliver conceptual and strategic thinking.
  • Overseeing the packaging team, to ensure all packaging projects are delivered on time, to budget and adhere to the approval process.
  • High expectations – Not settling for ok, and ensuring we get the very best for our brands.
  • Flexible and open – you are able to take and give feedback constructively, working other views into your thinking whilst still holding a strong view.
  • The ability to work under time pressure.
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign literate
